How does it work?
When you enter the room you will see people with a “translation” sign – talk to them and they will assist you. You will be sitting within the audience and receive translation of the content via headphones.

Unser Anspruch ist es, Kreta möglichst barrierearm zu gestalten. Um sprachliche Barrieren abzubauen, bieten wir eine Übersetzungststruktur an. Leider können wir unseren Ansprüchen in Bezug auf bauliche Barrieren nicht genügen. Personen mit Einschränkungen können sich gerne an uns wenden, wir können die Barrieren kommunizieren und wollen gerne zusammen eine Lösung finden.
Ausgeschlossen von den Veranstaltungen sind Personen, die neonazistischen Parteien oder Organisationen angehören, der rechten Szene zuzuordnen sind oder bereits in der Vergangenheit durch rassistische, nationalistische, antisemitische oder sonstige menschenverachtenden Äußerungen in Erscheinung getreten sind. Auch rechte Symbole und Kleidung akzeptieren wir nicht. Die Veranstaltenden behalten sich vor, von ihrem Hausrecht Gebrauch zu machen und diesen Personen den Zutritt zur Veranstaltung zu verwehren oder sie von dieser zu verweisen.
Corona geht weiterhin um und wir möchten einen solidarischen Umgang damit finden. Bitte besucht die Kreta Veranstaltungen nur, wenn ihr euch gesundheitlich fit fühlt. Habt ihr Krankheitssymptome, dann bleibt bitte zuhause.
Wir werden (wo möglich) auf ausreichendes Lüften der Räume achten und freuen uns, wenn ihr eine FFP2-Maske dabei habt. Sollte das aktuelle Infektionsgeschehen es nötig machen, werden wir auch eine kleine Zahl Masken parat haben, für Menschen, die ihre eigene vergessen haben. Für die Veranstaltung “Kritik der Männlichkeit statt kritische Männlichkeit” am 10.10.23 18:00 wird um das Tragen einer FFP2-Maske gebeten!
Kreta for all – barriers at Kreta – Kreta without Nazis
All of our events are free and open to everyone – student or non-student, it doesn’t matter!
Our aim is to make Kreta as accessible as possible. To reduce language barriers, we are offering translation into English. Unfortunately, we could not meet our accessibility requirements in terms of construction barriers. People with limitations are welcome to contact us, we will communicate the barriers and would like to find a solution together.
Excluded from the events are individuals who belong to neo-Nazi parties or organizations, who are associated with the right-wing scene, or who are already known for racist, nationalist, anti-Semitic or other offensive statements. We do not accept right-wing symbols and clothing at our events. The organizers reserve the right to deny these persons access to the event or to expel them from it.
Corona is still going around and we want to find a way to deal with it in solidarity. Please attend the kreta events only if you feel in good health. If you have symptoms of illness, please stay at home.
We will make sure that the rooms are sufficiently ventilated (where possible) and would be happy if you brought an FFP2 mask with you. If the current infection situation makes it necessary, we will also have a small number of masks ready for people who have forgotten their own. For the event “Critique of masculinity instead of critical masculinity” on 10.10.23 18:00 we ask you to wear a FFP2 mask!

At the first kick-off meeting for the organization of the Kreta in June, from the perspective of the student councils the fear was expressed that the Kreta and the O-Phase take people away from each other (competition argument). This fear was heard: as a result, the period of the Kreta was deliberately set to two weeks in order to relieve the first week of the O-phase. In addition, the Kreta also deliberately takes place on the weekends, which was also considered to be a relief in consultation with representatives from the student councils. We admit that the scope of the program has exceeded our expectations, so that the first week is also well filled with events. This is not a deliberate counter-strategy, but is simply based on the fact that some speakers and initiatives brought limited time capacities with them.
We believe that after two years of corona pandemic, social distancing and digital teaching, every meeting is important.
We also think that the university, the campus as well as the city are big enough for several events (even if we are not used to that here). Even if individual events overlap in time, it is temporally possible to participate in both, the O-Phase and the Kreta.
In terms of content, the O-Phase is aimed exclusively at first-semester students. The Kreta also addresses freshmen as a target group, but is open to all other individuals, across all study programs and semesters. Whether you are a student at the TU Chemnitz, at another university, an alumnus or a non-student – it does not matter for the participation at Kreta.
The Kreta are about promoting political debate culture, creating discussion spaces and setting topics that otherwise get short shrift and showing opportunities for engagement.
From this perspective, the Kreta expand the O-Phase offerings and can be seen as a relief for the student councils as well as the Stura. At any time, the program as well as the Orga structure was open for participation (also for representatives of the university politics). No person from the Kreta-Orga is active in university politics themselves, be this something that should be changed – in this year’s Kreta-Orga there is little knowledge about university political structures, the huge bureaucratic knot of the university appeared in many places as opaque.
We think that the necessary contacts as well as the anchoring and networking of the O-Phase or the student councils, Stura and Kreta are expandable and the basis could be created in some places.
For the coming years we wish for more cooperation, the breaking up of rusty structures and more openness for new ideas. We wish the student councils a good O-phase and look forward to seeing you at the Kreta!
